At Luna, Cakes by Design we do use nuts in many of our products.
Please inquire when ordering one of our many tasty options.
No, we only use edible items such as gum paste, fondant and chocolate fondant and rice krispy treats. No plastic or styrofoam are used in the design of our cakes. Plastic and wood will only be used for support and structure of the cake.
Take a look at our flavors page, we have flavors and fillings for every taste. If you don’t see your flavor let us know and we will try to accommodate your request.
Normally we like 7 days lead time for cakes, however in certain situations we can accommodate a more immediate request. For weddings we would suggest booking your event 3 months prior to the date.
Fondant is a sugar-based frosting that can be poured or rolled on top of a cake or petit fours. There are several different types of fondant, with many different flavors. Fondant can be formed, twisted, dyed, airbrushed, and molded to anything. It’s like using Play-Doh, it’s great stuff!
No, we never freeze a cake as we feel it dries them out. We, at Luna, Cakes by Design want your cake to be as fresh and moist as it can be. Every cake is made to order.
Do you use plastic or styrofoam?
I’m getting married during the summer with an outdoor reception and I want an all buttercream cake.
Can you ship a cake?
Can I use fresh flowers on my cake?
When should I schedule my tasting?
When will my cake be delivered?
As we are located upstate New York the summers can be very hot and humid. Since buttercream frosting is made with sugar and butter creamed together it tends to melt in hot temperatures. We would suggest the cake not be displayed until the very last minute. This will ensure that the design and cake stay in tact.
We do not ship cakes. If you would like us to create a cake, we would be happy to fly to the destination and create the cake on site. The customer would be responsible for payment and the booking of air fare and lodging.
We prefer to use sugar flowers as we have more control over the design. It helps us in designing the size, the look and overall proportion to the cake. If the absolute wish is fresh flowers, there will be a fee. We will obtain the flowers from your florist and place them on the cake during the execution of the design.
Our cakes are one of a kind and tailored to your vision. Extra attention is paid to the design and look of your cake. Our cakes are prepared with fresh ingredients from local vendors and made from scratch.
We will deliver the cake a few hours prior to the wedding or event and will set up prior to your guests arrival. Most of our cakes are assembled prior to delivery and transported fully assembled. Of course this all depends on the design and what is needed. We will discuss the options at your tasting.
As we bake all our products from scratch we request you schedule your tasting 3 to 4 days in advance.
How long will the cake pops last?
Can you ship your cake pops?
What other products do you offer?
Our cake pops are made to order and are always fresh. They should be kept refrigerated and will last a week, (if you can wait that long), or you can freeze them and they will last for months.
Yes, we can ship cake pops, however we cannot ship the Couture Cake pops as they are too delicate. We would be happy to deliver the Couture Cake Pops for a nominal fee if needed.
Can I substitue the flavors and Fillings?
We can make substitutions in our flavors, but keep in mind that all of our cake flavors are the result of testing and refining our flavor profiles. Our cakes are designed to be four layers of cake. We can't make the cake with the same filling in every layer, and we don’t generally make substitutions for the purpose of simplification. If you have an allergy or a specific dislike, let us know and we can work with you on finding a tasty solution.
